As people advance in their lives, they tend to realize theirstrengths and deficiencies in various fields. Once an individualrealizes their weaknesses, they try to rectify them early in order tonurture their skills effectively. On the other hand, the strengthscan be used in improving individuals’ personal lives or their fieldof profession. The paper discusses the strengths and weaknessesrelated to my personal journey in nursing.

Personaland Professional Accountability

Reliableindividuals are accountable for their lives as well as theirprofession.Accountability results from one’s ability tocommunicate effectively and making decisions on his or her own.Communication is essential in building one’s personal andprofessional accountability. Throughout my lifetime, I havestreamlined my communication skills. My ability to communicateeffectively has made me influential amongst the people.Despitebeing good in communication, I have always struggled to makedecisions on my own. The reason behind it is that in our family, ourdad is the only one who could make such decisions. Thus, I was not ina position to nature the talent of decision-making. The only thingthat I can do is to analyses a situation to come up with facts out ofit. Decision-making has been a great challenge to me, but I have beenworking on it. I have missed some chances simply because I was not ina position to make the right decision.

For one to have apersonal development, they should be in a position to communicate andmake decisions on their own. Communication helps the nurses to passthe information to the relevant stakeholders. If one is unable togive the information, then it means that the coordination will beineffective. Decision-making is key when dealing with crucialmatters. When making the decisions, one should be in a position toarrange the needs according to their priorities. Ineffectivedecision-making makes one unaccountable of their activities.

Career Planning

Career planning is a process that makes one to choose aspecific course in learning. For one to choose what to study inschool, they need to have an idea of what they want to be when theygrow up (Shamir &amp Eilam, 2013). It calls for one to discoverthemselves regarding the skills and the values that they have. I knewthat I as inadequate in making decisions but when it comes toanalyzing a situation using facts, I as good in that. I knew that mydream of becoming a nurse as somehow on the move. I knew in nursingone had to deal with facts, but the problem is what comes up with themost appropriate decision. Still, in choosing, a career on what to bein life was a challenge. I had several options, but I did not knowwhich one to land on. I feel that the weakness can be carried forwardto my career in nursing if I fail to work on it. Since have had manyoptions to choose from, there is also difficult in coming up with theexact option to choose. Inability to make a decision forced me tohave a hard time in taking action on what I was supposed tospecialize in in school.

Personal Journey Disciplines

Nursing as adiscipline involves interaction with people from differentbackgrounds. The nurses are expected to interact in a variety of wayswith various people (Shamir &amp Eilam, 2013). Nurses should beready to understand the reality of the situation throughobservations, tentativeness and the experience that they have hadbefore. I am an extrovert and I interacting with people am never abig deal. Being an extrovert and having influencing behavior come asa competitive advantage in my personal journey. Through my abilityto change others, I will be in a position to collaborate with thestakeholders in order come up with a way of moving the stakeholderstowards achieving the goals of an organization. I can communicatefluently, and this makes me be on the front line of making peoplebelieve my ideas.

Reflective Practices Reference Behaviors

My behavior ismore based on my strengths rather than the weaknesses. The aspect ofI being effective in communication has made me be social amongstpeople. I have turned out to influential as I can put all the thingsto make sure that people are in a position to corporate (Mahoney,2012). My behavior is set towards appreciating people from allcultures hence appreciation of diversity. The aspect of I being weakin decision-making has been a challenge, but I keep on improving itby carrying out a statistical analysis to find out which option isthe best for me to take.

How to Use My Leadership Skills to Bring Change in the Place ofWork

A leader shouldbe competent to earn respect. An administrator can utilize thesystems thinking skills to bring change in a workplace. A leader canuse the system thinking skills to address the health issues thatconcerns the clients in a continuous manner (Mahoney, 2012). Anyleader who wants to be successful should be determined and have asense of responsibility. An administrator will need to carry out anassessment of the health issues that mainly affect the community.Once the problem is identified, he or she can work towards coming upwith a solution to the problem. Thus, the nurses ought to be resultoriented.

Personal Goal in Leadership and the Implementation Plan

My own goal inleadership that I have ever wanted to have is that of collaboration.In leadership, it is important for one to improve the relationshipsthat they have with other people, both in and outside theorganization. The first thing I can do to achieve this goal is byunderstanding the goals and the needs of the other party (Shamir &ampEilam, 2013). Once I am familiar with their goals, we can worktogether to have a mutual benefit. For instance, the need of thepeople in the society could be doing away with a particularcommunicable disease. The first thing to do is to find out whichdiseases it is. Once I am of the disease, then, we can work towardssolving the problem with the society. By so doing, my leadership goalwill be well achieved.

Conclusion

The strengths andthe weakness that we have can make us excel in our lives or act as anobstacle respectively. The professional and personal development isgreatly influenced by our decision-making and communication skills.The leaders are called to have a plan that will enable them toachieve the set goals in their lives. Thus, we should be keen on ourstrengths and weaknesses that we have in life as they have asignificant impact on our careers. It is always advisable to makesure that one works on their weaknesses to strengthen theircompetition in the contemporary world.
