Business management involves various activities designed to ensurethe fulfillment of organizational goals. Firms require consistentleadership to ensure efficiency in their business operations. In thispaper, I will highlight the merits of planning, organizing, staffing,directing, and controlling with regards to business management.
Planning enables an organization to identify the amount of resourcesrequired for production. Hence, the firm can make requisitions inadvance and benefit from economies of scale (Jeston & Nelis,2014). I would have liked to see my past manager plan for the workschedules of different employees. Organization contributes to theproper fulfillment of roles and responsibilities. Proper organizationprevents duplication of efforts (Jeston & Nelis, 2014). Staffingcontributes to success since it guarantees the hiring of qualifiedand experienced workers. New employees must be willing to learn andadopt fundamental aspects of the company’s culture (Jeston &Nelis, 2014). I would have liked to see my past manager consider aperson’s suitability before employing the individual. Directinginvolves the provision of guidance and oversight. Employees rely onthe directions from managers to enable them fulfill the firm’sobjectives. On the other hand, controlling is vital since it allows amanager to measure and evaluate progress (Jeston & Nelis, 2014).The firm can obtain a clear understanding of what must be implementedto fulfill certain objectives. I would have liked to see my pastmanager provide regular evaluation reports.
Indeed, activities such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing,and controlling have fundamental roles with regards to effectivebusiness management. Planning ensures that work and productionschedules are practical based on the firm’s needs. Organizationensures that workers perform their roles smoothly. Furthermore,staffing allows a firm to have sufficient human resources. Properdirecting helps to provide guidance while controlling ensures regularevaluation of progress. Consequently, the business can fulfill itsobjectives efficiently and effectively.
