Causes and Effects of School Shootings
Causesand Effects of School Shootings
The schoolshooting has been a great menace to the society, especially to theschools in America. School violence and shootings has been witnessedin the news for an extended period. The incidents of school shootingsare increasing, and the question that still runs in the minds ofpeople is “what can be the cause of school shootings?” The paperwill discuss the cause and effect of a school shooting and thepossible solutions to the problem.
Causesof School Shootings
Guns and mental illness rarely lead to fires. They stand not to bethe main reason behind the children’s killings (Muschert 62). Theaspect of gun killings amongst the students has grown rampant. Thereasons as to why the youths have the gun killings in the school arebecause they are angry and decide to pass their grievances. As muchas they try to air their grievances in schools, they find that no oneis ready to listen to them. The children have been raised in asociety where they are taught on how to stay morally upright yettheir mentors do not practice the moral aspects. Most of the youthshave limited stay time with their parents. Consequently, they losetheir trust to the parental care (Muschert 75). Their parents arebusy doing their duties and they have ignored them. The negligence ofthe youths has led to the creation of a morally corrupt society, andthe children have already lost their faith in parental care.
Effectsof School Shootings
Neglecting thechildren makes them to take undesirable actions irrespective of theconsequences that they will face. The people are too first tosentence a youth that has been overlooked not knowing that thechildren are very much talented. The teens end up being denied andbeing exposed to more oppression due to the school shootings ratherthan looking for the cause of the problem. The youths are oftendenied adequate freedom, and this has pushed them to go on withbreaking the school rules and regulations irrespective of the guncontrol.
The other issuethat may lead to a school shooting is how the teachers treat thestudents once they make mistakes. It is not always the student`sfault to go wrong (Muschert 79). When it comes to such cases, theteachers may take action without first consulting the students. Insuch a case, the teachers may decide to punish the students and couldbe they are not in any wrong. In such a case, the students may feellike they are being treated unfairly and they decide to take revengethrough gunshots.
Solutionto School Shooting
The way forwardin solving the current issue of the school shooting is getting timeto listen to the students. Collaborating with the students will makethem feel that people are concerned with them, and the anger willsubside. The media is too much in showing the school shootings ratherthan giving a response to such shootings. Finding out the reasons ofthe youths getting angry is good. The best thing is to get the kidsinvolved in solving the problem in hand. The teachers are supposed toinvestigate the causes of mistakes in school before punishing thestudents. Involving the students in solving problems will reduce theschool shooting that occurs because of unfair treatments in school.
