Oneof the critical aspects for increasing an organization’sproductivity is the maintenance of effective communication. Themanagement at St. Paul’s Hospital Division of Cardiology shouldstrive to ensure this efficiency in communication within the facilityis achieved due to the many associated benefits. Clear expectationsand ease of attainment are obtained when the management hasestablished reliable ways of passing messages to the employees.Attributes such as loyalty and trust are achieved through effectivecommunication (Cornelissen,2014).Subsequently, strong working relationships may arise due to theapplication of this concept. Excellent patient care and satisfactioncan be achieved through communicating in a positive manner to theclients. The treatment process may involve a team of experts caringfor a single patient hence necessitating effective communicationamong the practitioners.
Ina recent face-to-face conversation with a coworker, I realized thevalue of applying specific verbal and non-verbal skills to pass themessage effectively. The conversation lacked precise delivery of themessage. The co-worker wanted to pass the message using the shortesttime possible since she had other duties to perform. This rush deniedme an opportunity interprets the message based on her body language. The body language such as the facial expression, smiling, gestures, and eye contact may help the recipient understand the seriousness ofthe message (Cornelissen,2014).The co-worker did not give me an opportunity to respond limiting thecommunication even further.
Efficientmanagement of the conflict within an organization promotes positivecollaboration and competitiveness. Nonetheless, poor management ofthe same leads to divisions, chaos, and low morale (Cornelissen,2014).The management should develop avenues for addressing differences inwork methods, personalities, goals, perspectives, and stress. Theseavenues must entail an adoption of effective communication whichhelps build a strong working relationship among all the workers.Identification and reinforcement of shared workforce goals are alsoefficient in the fostering constructive conflicts. The differences inopinions and skills among the workers should be appreciated andcalled for from time to time to solve particular challenges.Involvement of the subordinates in the decision making is also afundamental approach in managing conflicts. Moreover, strategies suchas team cohesion, emotional intelligence, and supportive norms of theteam are also efficient in promoting peaceful workplaces(Cornelissen,2014).
Inconclusion, upholding effective communication has various benefits toa company. Apart from being a useful means of solving conflicts, italso establishes strong bonds among workers and even promotes theproductivity of organizations. Fostering constructive conflictrequires emotional intelligence, supportive team norms, and thepromotion of cohesion in a team, as strategies to be adopted by themanagers. Additionally, appreciation of the varying personalities, perspectives, and knowledge also helps manage conflicts.
