Fundamentally,“The Teaching Alliance as a Framework for Advancing a RelationallyOriented and Jesuit Inspired Teaching and Research Agenda" is a2016 article by Fernando Estrada that investigates the effect ofstudent-teacher interrelationship on learning. This is deductivereasoning as the researcher begins with a theory of student-teacherrelationship (Bryman,2015).Inherently, the researcher uses Jesuit culture as the focus of hisstudy. The issue here is the impact of student-teacher relationshipson learning (Estrada, 2016). The purpose of using this type ofresearch method is to prove the effectiveness of a theory.
Thearticle “What Can Jesus Teach us About Student Engagement?” is a2015 article by Glenn James, Elda Martinez, and Sherry Herbers thatexplored Jesus’s potential opinion regarding studentengagement.This is an inductive approach where the researcher beginswith a research question (Bryman,2015).Essentially, the research method entails reviewing existingliterature that illuminates Jesus`s view about student engagement. Inthe end, the researcher concludes that Jesus method of teachingengaged students and thus, other educators should embrace the same.He uses the inductive approach to come up with a theory of studentengagement from Jesus teachings.

Botharticles avoided the use of primary data and concentrated on usingsecondary source of information. Thie main reason of avoiding primarydata is because they concentrated on studying the historical form ofteaching which is only recorded in books. They preferred to provetheir points by using different research done by other scholars onthe same topic.For example, Estrada (2016), uses the work of Bordinto insist on the importance of the psychological, interpersonalrelationship. It would have taken a lot of time if he was to go onthe field and start researching on the effectiveness of thestudent-teacher relationship. Using already confirmed researchersmake it easy to prove the efficiency of the study. Again, use ofprimary data is costly.

The authors begin with an introduction to the topic,review relevant literature, and conclude by justifying how thereviewed studies reveal Jesus’s means of encouraging studentengagement.
