Inmy opinion, family impact discussion starters hold the most promisesin operationalizing the family impact lens. In approach, policymakersdiscuss the issues affecting families by getting opinions fromdifferent people (Bogenschneider,2014). The best policy must put into consideration all stakeholders’opinions including the public. The approach provides a platform forvarious stakeholders to air their concerns and views and thus, theresulting policy will be all inclusive. The method might take time tocomplete the task due to the contradicting opinions, but in the end,it is the best way to ensure everyone gets involved.
Familyscience should be involved in family impact checklist. The checklistguide programs, policy design, and policy evaluation. As adiscipline, family science deals with evaluating family problems andsolutions at all levels (Bogenschneider,2014).The discipline looks at the impact of different policies on a family.It also guides designing of policies in various organizations so asto ensure that they meet families` needs. Family Science alsorecommends changes to policies that are not healthy for families.
FLEshave a duty of promoting family-friendly policies. The best way toensure that it achieves this goal is to create awareness in differentorganizations and the society. Every employee should undergo trainingthat enlightens him or her on the importance of family-friendlypolicies at the workplace. Employees are usually stressed if theydon’t get enough time and resources to spend with the family. FLEshould also enlighten employees of their rights when it comes tofamily matters.
Ican use family impact analysis in my work to check whether thepolicies in organizations are family centered. I would advise theagencies to change policies that are not family friendly. I wouldalso ask the organizations to involve employees when formulating thepolicies so that they can give their views and air their needs.
