With so muchnegative publicity concerning fast foods, one might think there is nobenefit at all of eating fast foods. It cannot be disputed that fastfoods are among the leading causes of lifestyle diseases such asobesity, diabetes among many others. Some people have even cynicallyclaimed that eating fast foods increases the chances of getting bowelcancer. The kind of misinformation being peddled around is scary. However, companies such as McDonald`s continue to register hugeprofits a year, showing the demand for fast foods is not fading away.In this essay, I illustrate why I love eating a burger.
. A burger ispacked with calories. Importantly, it has proteins, starch, and fats. The trick of eating fast food and remaining good lies in regulatingthe uptake. Eating too much may produce the undesirable effects ofweight gain and obesity. However, regulated eating habits can bebeneficial. Therefore, I always check the number of calories I take.Importantly, I make sure I exercise to burn excess calories andmaintain a healthy body weight. No doubt without physical activity, the excess calories may accumulate in the body producing theundesirable effects.
The secondreason why I love burger is the quickness it is served. It takes atmost three minutes to have the burger served after making an order. Iam conscious of time. Therefore, I usually find grabbing a burgerfrom a fast food joint better than waiting for half an hour in arestaurant. Moreover, food cost a lot cheaper at a fast joint than asitting in a restaurant for food to be prepared. Therefore, eatingthe burger ensures I stay within the budget and still pack enoughenergy to see me through the day. Importantly, I consider burger tobe low-calorie. Therefore, I have little worries over weight gain. However, I take caution by exercising daily just to make sure nothinggoes wrong.
It was notalways the case that I used to love or eat burgers. Truth be told, Idespised anything that was fast food. The healthy eating ads runningon television made me believe if I eat fast foods I will likelybecome diabetic or become obese. Naturally, I would not want to riskmy health, especially after I witnessed the pain and suffering of adiabetic patient during a community volunteer service in a hospital. The thought of having to inject with insulin to live always gave megoose bumps. Therefore, I stayed away from the fast foods aspossible. Notably, after attending a vegetarian food fair, I wasconvinced I should become a vegan. Particularly, the health benefitsof a vegetarian diet.
However, myprospects of adopting a vegetarian diet changed one afternoon.Notably, a vegetarian diet takes a lot of time to prepare. I washungry, and I had an important meeting in an hour’s time. I neededto familiarize myself with the details of the meeting and theprotocols. Therefore, I had two options, sitting in a restaurantwaiting for the vegetarian order to be prepared or taking the“unhealthy’’ fast foods. Eventually, I settled on trying out thefast foods, but I promised myself that would be the first and lasttime of eating fast food, well I lied to self.
The menu wasextraordinarily large. I had difficulty settling on what to eat, notably the health concerns were at the back of the mind. Therefore, with the health concerns, I asked for advice from an attendant onwhat to take. We shuffled through the menu, identified some optionsbut eventually settled on the burger, specifically Turkish burger. Iwas surprised with the speed in which I got my order, two minutesafter making my pick, it was delivered, and twenty minutes later, Iwas in the office preparing for the meeting.
Therefore, theconvenience provided by the food remains one of the key reasons why Iprefer a fast food joint to a sit in a restaurant. Furthermore, Irealized almost half of my friends love burgers. Therefore, we couldshare a lunch more often.
Despite theadvantages offered by burgers, I remain wary of the many health risksthat they pose. Notably, weight gain remains a concern now as it wasthen. Like mentioned before, I have made physical exercise part of myhealthy weight maintenance strategy. However, the worries are notabout to end my love for burgers. The burger is easy to make, and Ican play around with my dressings to make it more personalized. Moreover, it tastes good and delicious. In fact, every time I takeone, I crave for another. Furthermore, from the look, a burger isvery enticing.
In conclusion, Inever loved eating fast food primarily due to health concerns. However, all that changed one day when I had little time to eat andprepare for a meeting. My perception of the fast food changed thatday. I was able to put something in the stomach and prepare for themeeting, which went well. My advice to the fast food enthusiasts ismoderation. Eat what is necessary, too much will lead to healthconcerns.
