TheCystic Fibrosis Foundation is an established not-for-profitorganisation that puts much effort into the development of a cure forcystic fibrosis. The foundation is devoted to attacking cysticfibrosis from different angles, including offering funds for researchon the condition. The group’s structure is effective in ensuringthat it achieves its mission and has contributed to the currentsuccess of the organisation in combating cystic fibrosis.
Theorganisation has a governance structure that is accountable to allits stakeholders. The board of trustees of the foundation holdsauthorised and trusted obligation for the operations of theorganisation. The board is composed of sixteen members from diversebackgrounds regarding education and experience (The Cystic FibrosisFoundation, 2012). Such diversity has been useful in the team as itcontributes to a variety of experiences and expertise, which has beenbeneficial in the governance of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Thestructure is also less complicated and allows a fast decision-makingprocess since the members report directly to the CEO, and theirdecisions are effective in enhancing the necessary changes in theorganisation (Rothschild, 2012).
Toconclude, the effectiveness of the board in ensuring the success ofthe organisation lies in its ability to develop strategies. Thediversity of the group ensures that all the company’s needs are metwhereas the simplicity of its structure makes sure that thedecision-making process is smooth and straightforward. The inclusionof the organisation’s CEO in the meetings by the board is effectivein ensuring that decision-making and policy development processcomply with the mission and traditions of the team. A lesscomplicated structure also reduces the operational costs of theorganisation as shared y Mizrahi (2012), thus allowing it toconcentrate all its finances on the goal of offering aid toindividuals with cystic fibrosis.
