MathStatistics

Informationabout places, people, things, and occurrences are best achievedthrough statistics, the branch of mathematics that involvescollection, analysis, interpretation, presentation and organizationof data. According to The Joy of Stats, Statistics provides vitalinformation about the world, alongside proving whether the thingsthat people think or believe are true (Rosling, 2010). Through datacollected from international institutions, people get to understandvarious situations in the world such as health situation, financialmovements, markets and infrastructural development.

InSan Francisco, statistics has contributed to the significantreduction in crime since the data on crimes is freely accessible andshared from the police departments. Computer wizards have used thepolice crime reports to design a statistical pattern and map thatshows possible areas of crime (Rosling, 2010). The crime map hasenhanced the police reaction to crimes, people`s safety and as wellas discouraging the criminals. Florence Nightingale is depicted asone of the pioneers who contributed to the collection andpresentation of statistical data. One of her greatest contributionswas the graphics she used such as the polar area graph.

Googleuse a statistical language to translate the continuous data on theinternet into different languages that people can understand. Thesystem uses correlation to identify words and texts and then usessystems to translate the data into different languages in the world.Blogs use statistics to study measure people`s emotions throughcollecting data from blogs and then use applications to define theemotions based on the person`s senses and feelings on the blog(Rosling, 2010). The most interesting in the film is the statisticaldata that shows the life expectancy and income in the world since1820. I would wish to understand more about how statistics is appliedto language translation when making live online conversation.

VisualPopulation Data Presentation

Graphshowing the population growth rate and total population In Floridafor the period between 1970 and 2015.

The graph shows the population growth rate and the total population in Florida from 1970 to 2015. The graph tells the population growth rate and total population over the period from 1970 to 2015. From the chart, it is evident that Florida`s population has been growing steadily over the years due to various reasons that favor an increase in the number of people, plus the time factor. However, the graph shows that despite the population growth, the total population growth rate is reducing un-uniformly implying that the birth rates have reduced (BEBR, 2017).

Pie chart showing the percentage composition of Latinos in Arizona

The chart illustrates the percentage of Hispanics population in Arizona one of the towns with the largest number of Hispanics in the U.S. From the pie chart Mexicans are the leading Hispanics at 87.5%, implying that they are the majority Latinos in Arizona. Cubans and South Americans are the least Latinos in the state, with insignificant percentages. (Tornoe, 2014)

Table showing the world’s population, energy and gross domestic product growth rates

The table compiles data from 7,000 BCE on population growth rates, and it shows a steady growth over the extended period. Similarly, it indicates that the energy growth in the world has a different data implying that the growth rates are not uniform. Finally, the table shows the GDP growth rates over the same period, and it illustrates a steady increase in the growth rate with some years recording higher rates.
