The vestibularsystem is made up of three semicircular canals in the inner ear. Thechannels work together with the brain to detect, maintain and makesure the body is balanced. It also makes sure that the body is wellpositioned in the universe. The brain fetches the informationgenerated in the vestibular system to coordinate motion (Highstein,2012). The semicircular canals are responsible for sensing theintellectual movements while the otoliths in the vestibular apparatusshow the linear movements such as tilting and leaning. Once the bodyis in a straight movement, the signal is sent to the brain throughthe vestibular, and once the message gets into the brain, the braincontrols the movement (Highstein, 2012). The flow of the vestibularfluid makes the air in the vestibular canal to send messages throughthe vestibular nerve to the brain.
The informationconcerning the body movement is sent to the cerebellum, the part ofthe brain that controls movement, by the vestibular system(Highstein, 2012). The cerebellum is located at the back of thebrain. It meets with the spinal cord, and it is responsible forreceiving signals from the on movement from the ear, the joints,eyes, and the muscles. The brain is in charge of coordinating theexpansion and contraction of the muscles.
In conclusion,the movement of the body is controlled by the vestibular system thatsends a message to the brain to control it. The two organs, brain,and the ear do operate in coordination with the eyes, skin, jointsand muscles.
