NON-PROFIT REFLECTION QUESTION
The Homeless Shelter is a non-profit organization that offerstemporary residence for the impoverished people. It has over onehundred members and a small board of Trustees managing it. Itgenerates its funding from donations and revenues from commercialactivities. Without a doubt, the organization goes through ups anddown hence, marketing mix would be significant to ensure it meetsthe customer’s need (Worth, 2013). The relationship between the 4Ps(product, price, place, and promotion) is highly integrated.
The Homeless Shelter offers services to hundreds of needy individualssuch as housing, mentoring, and employment. They provide livingnecessities and in-house products such as meals, clothing, toiletries, clothing, laundry, and basic living expenses. It offers asense of belonging, as well as help individuals to readjust to thenew environment. In the end, it makes an impact on the society.
The Homeless Shelter uses cost-oriented and value-based pricingstrategies. Customers pay for the services with goods donations, monetary donations, and personal time. As a non-profit organization,it needs to cover costs rather than make a profit. However, themembership fee is competitive to attract more members bydemonstrating a good value for the money.
The Homeless Shelter offers its services directly to itscustomers (volunteers, donors, members, partners, and the public). For instance, it gives out mailers to inform them of any upcomingevent. It also has as an online portal whereby its customers can viewdifferent opportunities.
The Homeless Shelter promotes its services through advertisement, public relations, sales promotions, and direct mail. Public relationsrefer to the unpaid communications such as conferences, events, seminars, sponsorship deals, exhibitions, and press releases. On theother hand, advertising refers to the paid communications like theradio commercials, television advertisements, Internetadvertisements, and print media. It has also collaborated with thelocal community to gather opinions.
