Standwith the Standing Rockis a global campaign that is aimed at fighting and spearheading forclean water for both the Standing Rock Community and Oceti SakowinCamp. Also, Standwith the Standing Rock Campaigncalls for global donation in order to fight against the Dakota AccessPipeline. The campaign mainly wants to honor future generation byfighting the Dakota Access Pipeline in order to protect the water, sacred places as well as all human beings of the Standing Rockcommunity. On the other hand, Dave Archambault is the currentchairman of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, and he is stronglymobilizing people to converge on the pipeline area in order to fightagainst the construction of the pipeline (Levin, 2017).
Ilearnt several things from the event such as citizens can supportdemocracy through protesting against oppression as well as developingorganizations to support democracy. There were successful democraticmovements in Argentina and Ecuador. I also learnt that citizens canknow challenges pressing on democracy by filtering through the noisewhen institutions are in risks or crises. Despite people opting forprotests as a way of handling some issues, the same protests are noteffective sometimes. Finally, I learned that US politicalinstitutions get their strength from the Senate and House ofRepresentatives that design the institutions to do well in theirjobs.
Theone thing that I liked about the event is wide range of issues andconcepts covered. For example, the event touched on the role ofcitizens in supporting democracy, effectiveness of protests and howto know challenges that press on democracy. Also, the event wentahead to touch on United States political institutions and how theyare influenced by the Senate and House of Representatives.
