Cosmologyof Islam
Islamhas identified itself with various cosmological beliefs that arewell-narrated in the Quran. Before the Quran was introduced, thehuman understanding of the nature of the earth and heaven wasmysterious and ostensibly esoteric. Islam believes that the earth andseven heavens were created in 6 days and that the earth is flat inshape (Unal & Gultekin, 2013). The religion also believes thatthe seven heavens created are dome shaped and they appear as they areatop one another. Islam believes that the universe is a small objectand does not recognize the existence of solar system or galaxies, butit recognizes the existence of sun, moon, and stars. Muslims alsobelieve that night belongs to the day that comes after it as opposedto the day that precedes it.
CulturalConnections to Islam
Islamis highly connected to Latin culture, whereby family is a respectedentity in the society. In every social structure, the family is afundamental aspect and acts as a source of advice and support to manypeople. Everyone is required to be loyal to the family, and it is forthis reason that some people convert to Islam due to the respectaccorded to them. The cultural beliefs of Islam on shared genderroles resonates well with that of Latinos, where males and femalesare bestowed with distinct roles to play.
Essentially, the cultural connections fit in the culture and the religion ofIslam. For instance, the family is highly revered in the culturalbeliefs of Islam, and the man is regarded as the head of the familywhom should be respected. It is also a religion that believes in theaspect of shared responsibilities among its followers, where everyonehas a unique role to play for the betterment of Islam.
