Marriageis a socially accepted union between two people who love each other. The union establishes obligations and rights between the spouses andtheir kids. Traditionally marriage was between a man and a woman butas time goes by changes have occurred and people of the same gendercan be joined in matrimony if they tend to be affectionate towardseach other. Some individuals in the society oppose same-sex union dueto the differences in generations, ideologies, religion, race, andpartisanship. However, the support of this kind of marriage continuesto grow especially among people who are not religiously affiliated.
Asa young person, I have no problem with same- gender marriage eventhough I would not indulge in the same. My opinion is based on theview that there is an increase in individuals who have no issues withsame sex love this is because there is a generational change. Theyoung in age support highly this kind of marriage. Moreover, a goodshare of the old generation is changing and trying to support thesame gender marriage. I grew in a community that did not support thistype of union, but after some time my opinion changed when I got tounderstand what love is.
Thechurches in our community are slightly vulnerable than the clergy, but they both enjoy protection under the law, these provisionsprotect them from being coerced to perform same gender matrimonialunion. Hence, following the court`s ruling in the Obergefell V.Hodges where the court ruled that all states have an obligation toissue licenses for same –gender union and recognize such permitsissued by other states. However, there is no significant uncertaintythat the clergy and religious institutions can be forced by the courtto unite people of the same gender in marriage. The ruling is onlybinding in the states that did not decide on the religious libertyquestions (Hermann, 2015).
Thelegislations cover mostly the governmental institutions, howeversimilar legislations should be enacted to the private,non-governmental businesses because they are known to discriminatepeople by sexual orientation. We have small businesses that do notallow couples of the same gender into their shops. I believe thatthese couples should not be discriminated and should be treatedequally under the law. If the government decided to enact andimplement this law, it would be beneficial to these couples forbusinesses cannot be affected just for the mere reason that one is inlove with someone of the same gender.
Allthe people in the society are known to be equal according to the lawand therefore should enjoy equal rights of protection and allbenefits provided by the law without discrimination based on age, gender, religion, race, and sexual orientation. Therefore, when twopeople fall in love regardless of the gender they should be treatedequally. I feel that when one decides to go into wedlock, then it istheir decision and no laws should be put in place to hinder them frombeing joined in a matrimonial union. From the example in part 2, theperson was in love but could not be united in marriage with hispartner because he could not get a license.
Havinga partner gives one an obligation to receive a permit. However, couples of different genders are given priority over the couples ofthe same sex. They believe that matrimonial union gives a chance tothose who want to have a commitment to each other to do so. It isdone by filing documents that attest that they have made a commitmentto each other, their children, and family at large (Strong &Cohen, 2013). The filing should be done without discrimination giventhat the law has given this provision and therefore all those whowant to be joined should be able to receive the license.
However, the fact that religious institutions and the clergy are protected bythe law brings about a challenge on the issuing of the permit, whichonly makes it possible to receive the license from the state. Theopinion that not everyone believes in marriage shows that those whodo not believe in marriage rarely care who marries who. This viewbrings about a new argument that if we have individuals who are notfor marriages, there is no need for the licenses. If the clergy andreligious institution cannot issue the licenses for the same –gendermarriage then the state can decide to do away with the licenses allthe same.
Somepublic official based feel that they should not authorize amatrimonial license for same gender couples. I believe that theyshould only try to embrace the transitional changes and developmentsthat come by as time goes on. The marriage does not affect them inany way and therefore should issue the license. However, if theofficials feel that it is not in line with what they believe aspeople have different ethical and moral background, they should thensearch for jobs that do not tamper with what they believe. Foreveryone is in such of what makes them happy which might be love.
Gettinginto a matrimonial union is legal. Therefore the workforce andespecially public officials have no right to change the law based onthe ethical and morality believes. Employees are supposed to followthe law and if not capable should be termed as incapable of carryingout the tasks and responsibilities given to them. Given that peoplehave different moral, ethical and personal beliefs, we cannot try toimpose to everyone what we value as it will be wrong.
Discriminationis wrong, be it because of illness, sexual orientation, race, gender,or age. Same sex marriage is not illegal and therefore not a crime. The society, be it the employees, religious leaders or even thecommunity as a whole should refrain from discriminating people basedon their sexual orientation and instead embrace same-sex marriage forthey will be promoting happiness. The decision to be united withsomeone is a personal choice and therefore, just because one believesthat something is not right does not give them a chance not to carryout their tasks as stipulated. Individuals are the same as for theycan act as future therapists. However, if all people decide to imposetheir personal beliefs on everyone they meet, then it means that theydo not correctly carry out the tasks of a future therapist.
Themain aim of business is to make profits therefore, companies thatdiscriminate and refuse to attend to clients due to the mere factthat they are of a different sexual orientation are wrong. As much asbusiness owners have the right to refuse to attend to a customer, dueto their choice of being in love with someone of the same gender isnot a behavior. The fact that one prefers a person of the same sex asa partner does not take away the right to shop or attend anexhibition. Therefore, the state should come with laws that requirenon-governmental business owners not to discriminate people accordingto their sexual orientation but should embrace them like any otherclient (Boswell, 2013).
Inconclusion, Love is love, and therefore one should be allowed to bejoined with a person of their liking. As the law prohibitsdiscrimination, no one should be discriminated because of theirsexual orientation. Everyone should enjoy equal rights regardless oftheir sexual preference. The world is changing, and therefore peopleshould learn to embrace the changes.
