Digital divide causes many problemsfor the people of San Antonio, like preventing them fromaccomplishing important and basic tasks. Due to the presence of thedigital divide, people cannot fill job applications, interact withthe government and communicate with one another[ CITATION Tho13 l 1033 ].Factorssuch as lack of Internet access because of poor broadband width, theprevalence of digital illiteracy, and inaccessibility to computershave caused the digital rift in San Antonio.
SanAntonio Library System provides access to information to all patronsand observes the rights of everyone with the assurance of security.For example, computers, and laptops are filtered. People have raisedcomplaints about children watching pornography over the Internet, andSan Antonio Library System has established rules to safeguard minors.For instance, the library system has established Internet policiesthat determine what is appropriate for children. Since many peoplewant access to the Internet in San Antonio, the library systemregulates how people use the Internet at a time.
Importantactivities such as paying bills have become a challenge for peoplewho do not have access to the Internet. As new technologies come updaily, the gap keeps on widening. The San Antonio public LibrarySystem wants to improve its technology to make Internet cardregistration more accessible to the public. The aimis to make it possible for someone to sign up for a card on his orher mobile phone or at home. Patrons used online techniques toregister for library cards. Thelibrary system is continuously working towards achieving ways of bestserving both the millennial and future generations. With many peoplelacking access to technology in San Antonio, the Public LibrarySystem offers a solution to many. The library is the best place forthe public to get a variety of services including entertainment andeducation purposes.
