Thefuture of instructional design and technology will shift to portableplatforms like smart phones and tablets making it easier to accesslearning services from any location. Effective portable advancementswill empower rich learning situations in which data arrangement,cooperation, and work on genuine teaching errands can be consolidatedwith each other. People will become more reliable on the internet asa source of learning information. Technology firms will create newkinds of machinery that enable easy and faster access to the internetfor learning purposes. Online interaction will definitely increase aspeople will utilize blogs and virtual environments to share ideas andlearning materials. Since all learning will take place online, peoplewill become more familiar with the practice and the fascination withthe prefix ‘e’ for everything done on the web will eventuallydisappear (Kim, Lee, Merrill, Spector, & van Merriënboer, 2008).In other words, both the internet and virtual platforms will nolonger be a big deal.

The future will see more websites come upwith free content as the need for online learning materials willincrease. Industry players will gain users andcustomers resulting in higher profits for their firms. In sum, thefuture will be a win-win situation for everybody – learners willaccess education at an affordable price, while instructionaltechnologists will have a large pool of clients which translates tohigher profits.
