WillDonald Trump make a Great President?
Trump defied many odds to become the president. Before, the generalelection, every opinion poll had him losing to Hillary Clinton. Itmust have struck many Americans with surprise when in the end Trumpwas declared the winner. How Trump managed to navigate his way tothe top is a discussion that is unending among the political pundits.Trump has a way of winning even when everybody has him losing(Hochschild, 2016). Political pundits intimated that Trump might notlast a year in the office. The paper will give reasons why Trump willmake a great president.
Political Knowledge and Governance
Trump has political experience. He may not have been as prominent inthe political arena as Hillary Clinton may. However, he contested forchair of the reform party in 2000 and won. Unlike his opponentHillary Clinton who had experience serving as the first lady duringPresident Bill and later as Secretary of state in Obamaadministration. Trump does not have experience working in government, maybe that is a good thing, because his success in business tells thecitizen his experience working as the chief executive officer of asuccessful real estate company. Apart from the failure of Taj Mahal,Trump has run a successful real estate business. His exploits in theworld of business could be what is required to spur the economy ofthe United States and creates jobs.
Health issues were raised about Trump health. Consequently, herealized doctors medical exam report that clearly showed Trump was ingood health. Trump said “medical report is great’’. It isimportant to note Hillary Clinton collapsed while attending amemorial at New York. Trump never had any health issues throughouthis campaign, as the president, he hit the ground running. As Trumpsays “the jobs are coming back’’, they surely will.
Care for the Country
In the words of Trump “America First’’, he understands theimpact the globalization has had on the American worker, shiftingmanufacturing jobs to Mexico and China. Consequently, Trump isproposing severe levies on goods manufactured elsewhere and exportedto the United States. Trump expects that by imposing the border tax,Americans companies will re-relocate to the United States creatingjobs and improving the economy (Swaine, 2016). If Trump succeeds increating Jobs for Americans, he will make a great president.
Educated and Foreign Policy
Trump is well read, he holds a degree in economics. A good educationis part of his success story in the real estate. If education meansanything to the electorates, then Trump has a good educationbackground. Running the Miss Universe, Trump got exposure to thedifferent cultures across the world. Trump foreign policy has alreadyshown success by pursuing diplomacy instead of confrontation withRussia.
A problem that has been in America politics is the tendency to twistfacts to sound politically correct. The problem with politicalcorrectness is that it is a lie. It does not speak to the facts ofthe matter. For example, Trump was infuriated by reluctance byHillary Clinton and President Obama to refer to attack in Orlandonightclub as being perpetrated by Islamic terrorists. The truth ofthe matter is terrorist attacks are carried out by Islamic radicals.Trump said “Hillary Clinton will not refer to attackers as radicalIslamic terrorists’’ (Swaine, 2016).
Trump is an excellent negotiator. Notably, he wrote a book about theart of making the deal. Therefore, Trump will negotiate great dealswith China, Canada, and Europe. Trump has shown his dislike for theTTP, NAFTA among other trade deals. Therefore, under Trumpadministration, most of the deals will focus on the interests of theAmerican citizens and not the interests of globalists. The deals arepart of Trump campaign of “America First’’. Instead of thestance taken by the previous regimes that show, jobs shipped oversea.Trump will vehemently guard the interests of America. His abilitiesin negotiations can also be evidenced in his willingness to talk toRussia President and explore areas of mutual interests wherecollaboration can be pursued. For example, the United States cancooperate with Russia in the fight against global terrorism.
Right to say, Trump administration has faced many challenges already, especially his war with the media. The freedom of the press isguaranteed in the constitution and is not at the discretion of thepresident. However, the American Economy has shown a lot of optimismsince Trump was elected to the office. Since his election, the stockmarket has risen to the new levels.
One thing that will make Trump administration successful is demandfor results. He abhors complacency and mediocrity. For example, Trumpwas very critical of the complacency by Hillary Clinton as Secretaryof State to guard sensitive government documents. The email scandalthat tagged Hillary Clinton campaign could be one reason why shelost. Trump loathes this type of mediocrity. If anyone is mediocrein Trump`s administration, then the “you are fired’’ is not faraway.
During the Presidential debate, Trump said “I have a great plan todefeat ISIS in a month (30 days)’’. However, he refused to sharethe plan with the media. Many of the political commentators saidTrump had no plan at all. However, on 6 April 2017, Trump withoutwarning launched missile attacks on Assad forces following claims ofa chemical attack on the civilian by the regime (Kube, Johnson,Jackson & Smith, 2017). Therefore, instead of givingpolitical platitudes on how the world should deal with Assad, Trumpis taking the initiatives. Essentially, he talks and acts tough.
The Internet and mobile telephony have revolutionized the way peoplecommunicate and conduct business. Trump has taken the advantageprovided by the social media to communicate directly to the citizens.Trump Twitter and Facebook account have updates on a daily basis. Theconstant communication of his plan to the American people will be akey contributor to his success as a president. Trump campaign slogan“Make America Great Again’’ resonates well with the citizens whohave suffered years of economic plunder brought about byglobalization.
Years of special interests, groups’ control of the government hasseen Americans treat past administrations with suspicion. On thecontrary, Trump is his own man. Unlike Hillary Clinton who got hugecampaign financing from hedge fund managers, Trump financed hiscampaign together with the donations of the ordinary citizens. Therefore, Trump only allegiance is service to the American people. He does not have special interests groups influencing decisions ofthe government. Trump “I am not controlled by lobbyists’’.Therefore, since Trump only answers to the sake of the Americancitizens, he will make a good president.
In conclusion, Trump has many qualities that will make him a greatpresident. Lack of connection to the lobbyists means he owes no one afavor apart from the Americans citizens. His dislike for mediocrityindicates his Cabinet will give its best in every situation. Finally, his ability to act quickly, for example, missile launch showsinterests of Americans will be well guarded.
